The Board of Examiners is a legal University organ that handles student admission, study credits, tuition fees and rectifications of accreditation of studies taken elsewhere. Rectifications are handled according to the University of Oulu Regulations 24§ and 27§ as well as 82§ of the Universities Act. Measures for rectification are also outlined in the Administrative Procedure Act. Acting in the Board of Examiners requires some knowledge of measures for rectification and students’ due process. OYY’s academic affairs specialist trains the student representatives for their task and supports their actions. The organ also includes professors and other teaching staff. The Board of Examiners meets when necessary, as rectification requests must be handled within a fair time frame. The meetings tend to be more focused in the fall due to admissions rectification requests.

One member and one personal deputy member are chosen for the organ for a two-year term. Representatives are paid an attendance allowance (41,20€ per participated meeting / 2021).
Previous experience as a student representative is seen as a benefit. The Board of the Student Union of the University of Oulu names the student representatives in December 2021. The representative term starts 1/2022. Eligible for the organ are those Student Union members who have left their application within the application period and have enrolled in the University of Oulu by 31.11.2021. The chosen representative must be present as a student at the University of Oulu for their representative term.
In the selection process, the Act on Equality between Women and Men (609/1986) shall be followed.
