OYY is looking for students to join the equality and diversity working groups for the term starting January 1st, 2019, ending December 12th, 2021. We are looking for 1 member to join the equality and diversity working group of Kontinkangas campus.

The Equality and Diversity working groups 1) act as a cooperation forum that collects and conveys information and expertise on issues related to equality and diversity at the faculty level; 2) organise training, communication, and events for the university community in order to promote equality and diversity in the University; 3) prepare the Faculties’ operating Equality and Diversity Plan; 4) survey, monitor, and promote the topicality and up-to-dateness of the Equality and Diversity Plan as well as the implement the procedures recorded in the plan; and 5) make sure that the University management is informed about their operation and gives annual reports.

Student representatives act as contact persons students can contact regarding equality matters. Make sure you include in your application why you are interested in the position and how you would improve equality in the university community. The tasks of the Students’ Well-being Working Group are to promote students’ well-being and study ability as well as to take students into account as members of the university community. The Working Group discusses broadly about things related to students’ well-being and study abilities, such as livelihood, living, and communality as well as study guidance and fluency of the studies. In addition, the Working Group’s role includes to work as a bond and coordinator for different bodies that support students’ well-being. In this multi-professional group are representatives from the student union, different actors of the university, FSHS, and Oulu Parish Union.s

The Student Union’s Executive Board selects the student representatives for the Students’ Well-being Working Group.

At the restaurant working group the operations of Uniresta's campus restaurants (Kastari and Medisiina) are the main focus. The tasks of the working group are to handle the feedback from the customers and to plan and develop the operations together based on the feedback. The members represented at the working group are: Uniresta's staff, students, University's staff and FSHS. The working group meets few times a year.

We are looking for 1 member and 1 vice member for the management group of BMTK.

Faculty Management Group helps the Faculty Dean in the management, development and implementation of the strategy of the faculty. The Management Group can also lead the research activity of the faculty in case the faculty does not have a separate research management group. In that case the group prepares the measure programme of research and evaluates the quality of research activity. In addition to student representatives, the Management Group consists of the Dean, the Education Dean, the Head of Academic Affairs, the Heads of Research Units and other staff. The Management Groups hold meetings somewhat variantly and by faculty, mostly once a month.

We are looking for one deputy member to the University Collegium!

The University Collegium has the most authority along with the University Board of Directors. The tasks of the Collegium are specified in the Universities Act and include for example, deciding the members of the University Board of Directors, confirming the selections of University auditors, approving the financial statement and annual report of the University, relieving the members of the Board of their duties and deciding upon bringing an action for damages. The Collegium holds meetings usually twice a year.

Seven student representatives and seven personal deputy members are appointed to the Collegium. The Collegium also consists of ten professors and seven other staff members in accordance with the University’s regulations §13.

We are looking for a deputy member for the Board of Examiners of the University of Oulu!

The Board of Examiners deals with statutory petitions for corrections that concern student admissions, study attainments, tuition fees, and the accreditation for studies taken elsewhere. The rectification is determined by the Administrative Procedure Act. In addition to the student representative, the Board also consists of professors and other teaching staff. The Board holds meetings whenever necessary, since the petitions for correction must be processed in a reasonable timeframe.

The vice-chair participates in directing the activities of the Doctoral Students’ Section of the Student Union at the University of Oulu with the chair of the Section. The Doctoral Students’ Section is the collective voice and community of doctoral students across disciplines. The Section watches over University decision-making and doctoral training practices, proactively advocates doctoral students’ interests and well-being, and promotes doctoral students’ awareness of their rights and their ways of influencing University decision-making. The Section fosters a sense of belongingness and unity among doctoral students.

The Doctoral Students’ Section gathers approximately once in 1-2 months to discuss doctoral students’ points of view concerning the development of doctoral training. The task of the student representatives is to take doctoral students’ proposals and opinions forward. The Section also organizes events for doctoral students. The vice-chair participates in developing activities of the Section, communications and organizing events. When necessary, the vice-chair substitutes the chair of the Section.

The vice-chair is the vice-member of the UniOGS Management Group. The task of the UniOGS Management Group is to support the dean of UniOGS in leading and developing doctoral training and implementing the strategy of the University. The Management Group discusses e.g. the development of doctoral training processes, admission times and admission criteria and the amount of travel grants. Meetings are held approximately seven times per year.

The student members in the Education Group of UniOGS represent doctoral researchers in matters concerning the selection and development of courses for doctoral studies. The task of the Education Group is to evaluate and develop the general and transferrable skills courses and field-specific training at the University of Oulu. The Education groups discusses e.g. how to improve the courses of UniOGS according to feedback and what kind of new courses UniOGS could offer. Ideally, the student members in the group would represent doctoral researchers in different stages of doctoral studies.
