Faculty Management Group helps the Faculty Dean in the management, development and implementation of the strategy of the faculty. The Management Group can also lead the research activity of the faculty in case the faculty does not have a separate research management group. In that case the group prepares the measure programme of research and evaluates the quality of research activity. In addition to student representatives, the Management Group consists of the Dean, the Education Dean, the Head of Academic Affairs, the Heads of Research Units and other staff. The Management Groups hold meetings somewhat variantly and by faculty, mostly once a month. The doctoral student member of the Graduate School Management Group also acts as the Chair of OYY’s Doctoral Students’ Section, and their deputy member acts as the Vice Chair. 1 member and 1 deputy member are appointed to the Management Groups of faculties for a two-year term.
The representatives can receive study credits (4 cr. / 2 year term, max. 10 cr. / student) and commissions (41,20 € per attended meeting / 2022) for their work.
The Board of OYY elects the student representatives of the organ in September. The term of the elected representatives begins immediately after. Eligible for the student representative position are all members of the student union who - have applied for the position by the deadline of the application period and - have registered as attending students of the University of Oulu by the 11 Sept 2022 and - have a study right in the Faculty of the organ. The selected applicants must be registered as attending students when acting as student representatives.
When appointing the student representatives, the Board aims to have equal representation from as many departments as possible. The selection process is conducted in accordance with the Act on Equality between Women and Men (609/1986).
Your application should include, at the least, the following information: your major subject and the state of your studies, your own objectives for working in the organ, your motivations and what, according to you, are the most important tasks of the student representatives.
