The Education Management Group is the highest educational affairs organ at the university. It gathers the Vice Rector for Education, Director of Academic Affairs, and the Education Deans of all faculties to work on the management, development and strategies of education. The Education Management Group comprehensively discusses the university’s educational objectives and development of education. Members of the organ get to directly influence the outlining and implementation of the university’s education. The group is a direct link to the Education Committees of the Faculties. It holds meetings approximately once a month, on top of which some time must be reserved for perusing the meeting materials on the preceding days.
Two student representatives are appointed to the Education Management Group for a two-year term (2022-2023). OYY’s Specialist in Academic Affairs and the Secretary General support the representatives and are entitled to participate in and speak at the meetings. The representatives will receive study credits (4 ECST) and meeting fees (41,2€ per attended meeting) for their work.
The Board of OYY appoints the student representative in September of 2022, and the representative's term begins immediately after. Eligible for the position are all students who have submitted their application by the deadline of the application process and are registered as attending students of the University of Oulu by 11 Sept, 2022. The selected representative must be registered as attending when working as a representative.
The position requires fluent Finnish skills. Previous experience in student representative work in the administrative body is considered a benefit. The Board aims to select representatives from all faculties of the University of Oulu. The selection process is conducted in accordance with the Act on Equality between Women and Men (609/1986).
