Aalto Artistic Activity Steering Group (AASG)

Aalto Artistic Activity Steering Group (AASG) is responsible for the development of artistic activity of the Aalto University. There are four working groups (wg) under AASG: Transdisciplinary projects, exhibitions and events wg works on development, production and realization of transdisciplinary artworks and events, to be exhibited and shared to audiences across Aalto and beyond. Branding and visibility wg supports in raising the awareness of Aalto University globally, and develops its visibility in the world in its all three fields. International competitiveness wg benchmarks the best universities, follows the development of rankings in the fields, and develops how we should do rankings and international collaborations. Art in academia wg is a working body in artistic affairs for Aalto University Academic Committee (AAC), in issues such as reporting quality and quantity of artistic activity in cooperation with the national and international partners.

Aalto Junior Steering Group

The group guides junior activities at Aalto University and includes representatives from Aalto schools and interest groups, as well as upper secondary schools in the nearby area. The aim of Aalto University Junior is to support and promote the teaching and learning of science, mathematics, technology and the arts at all levels, as well as the hobbies of children and young people in these areas. Junior also supports the autonomous selection of Aalto University schools and research units aimed at school children.

Aalto Management Team AMT

The AMT consists of the members of the President’s Management Team (PMT), Chairman of the Professors’ Council and representatives of the Aalto University Student Union (AYY), Aalto University Doctoral Student Association (Aallonhuiput), employee organizations as well as Aalto University Campus and Real Estate (ACRE). It meets once between the meetings of the Aalto University Foundation Board and the agenda consists of information and decision items of the Board meetings. The aim of the AMT is to further transparency and open dialogue in decision making regarding university development, and to promote the university community’s commitment to the joint decisions. President Ilkka Niemelä acts as the chairman of AMT.

The QEC organises events that deal with current issues, which are open to all members of the staff. The education group shall be responsible for: 1. making proposals for the curricula of degree programmes to the faculty council; 2. appointing teachers in charge of candidate seminars, the supervisors and instructors of theses and the evaluation of theses; 3. approving degrees completed in their study programmes with the exception of the licentiate and doctoral degrees; and 4. attending to other duties entrusted or determined to it.
